History Facts:
The STEN or Sten Gun is a British submachine gun chambered in 9mm Parabellum and was created out of absolute necessity. After the disastrous retreat of British and French troops from mainland Europe, a large number of weapons were left on the beaches of Dunkirk. At the time, British submachine gunners were usually issued the American Thompson submachine gun, designated M1928, which was very expensive at $200 in 1939 and about $70 in 1942 for the M1 Thompson.
With a large amount of weapons still available in France, the British had to find a cost-effective solution to arm their submachine gunners. The STEN, an acronym derived from the names of the weapon's main designers: Major Reginald V. Shepherd and Harold J. Turpin, and the "En" stood for the Enfield factory.
The STEN weapon was easy to manufacture, with only 40 parts even bicycle repair shops could produce them for the war effort and they did. The STEN cost just 2.6 British Pounds or $11 a piece in 1942, making it even cheaper than the American M3 Grease Gun which cost $25 at the time. This meant that the British could arm not only their forces but also the Free French Forces in occupied France.

Northeast has redesigned the firing pin base and nozzle to extend the maintenance cycle and it is also CO2 capable as Northeast will be releasing CO2 magazines for the STEN pistol in the future, similar to what they did with their UZI. Also, the gas magazine has been redesigned so that the end plate of the gas tank is easier to attach for easier maintenance.
