Kershaw Knives was founded in 1974 by Pete Kershaw in Portland, Oregon, and quickly formed a collaboration with Kai, a Japanese blade producer known for craftsmanship. Kershaw became part of the KAI Group in 1977.

Today, Kershaw operates a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Tualatin, Oregon, producing over one million knives annually. The brand is recognized for innovations such as the SpeedSafe® assisted-opening mechanism and Composite Blade technology, which fuses two types of steel in a single blade.

Kershaw is a brand under Kai USA Ltd., alongside Zero Tolerance and Shun. The company emphasizes material innovation, precision manufacturing, and offers a lifetime sharpening service.
